Awqaf Ministry's Iftar Tents To Offer 10,000 Iftar Meals Daily

DOHA: The General Endowments Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced to set up 10 Iftar tents with the capacity of 10,000 fasting people in a day during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

The tents will be set up in densely populated areas across the country. This is done through the Iftar Sa'im endowment within the projects of the Endowment Fund for Righteousness and Taqwa, which receives the contributions of endowers and philanthropists, especially in the holy month of Ramadan.

Dr. sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Thani, Director General of General Endowments Department, stated that the Department is keen annually to hold Iftar tents during Ramadan.

He said that that the project is implemented following the conditions of the endowers, and the objectives of the Waqf Fund for righteousness and piety in strengthening community partnership.

For his part, Muhammad bin Yaqoub Al Ali, Assistant Director General of the General Endowments Department explained:“This year we aim to provide Iftar meals to 10,000 fasting people daily at different locations.

He said that the Iftar meals will be provided at ten locations – in Iftar tents and distribution to fasting people.

Al Ali said that the project has been launched with the generous support of the endowers and the blessed contributions of philanthropists.

“We hope that they will be among those who have rooms prepared for them on the Day of Resurrection, as stated in the noble hadith of the Prophet,“In Paradise there is a room whose outside is seen from its inside and its inside from its outside. Allah prepared it for the one who fed food, spoke softly, continued fasting, and prayed while people were sleeping,” he added.

Muhammad Yaqoub Al Ali urged the philanthropists and endowers to contribute to support the Iftar fasting sites and cover their costs in order to obtain reward and raise ranks in the month of good deeds and multiply the good deeds, whether by covering the expenses of a full tent or contributing any sums of money according to ability and ability.
