(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdulrahman Al-Fadley, inaugurated Environment Week in Riyadh, which will run under the slogan “Your Environment Knows You”. The week-long event will feature an exhibition and other attractions, and will receive visitors seven days a week at the Boulevard Riyadh City.

During the inauguration, Al-Fadley emphasized the importance of community participation in preserving the environment and natural resources of the Kingdom. He praised the increasing level of environmental awareness among members of society, and encouraged individuals and organizations to continue their efforts in promoting sustainable practices.

The event will see the participation of more than 45 government agencies, 47 companies and institutions from the private sector, and 52 nonprofit environmental organizations, according to Osama Faqeeha, deputy minister for environment. In addition to the exhibition, Environment Week will also feature field events and interactive awareness pavilions throughout the Kingdom, aimed at enhancing environmental awareness in various regions.

The ministry has organized several agreements and memorandums of understanding with governmental and private agencies in the environmental field. Al-Fadley witnessed the signing of seven such agreements during the inauguration. He also took the opportunity to honor several environmental activists for their creative ideas and outstanding efforts in serving the environment.

The event comes as part of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to promote environmental conservation and sustainability. The Kingdom has implemented several initiatives in recent years aimed at reducing its carbon footprint, including the National Renewable Energy Program and the Green Saudi and Green Middle East initiatives. The launch of Environment Week is expected to further promote community participation in these efforts, and raise awareness on the importance of environmental conservation.
