New training facility will foster media innovation among OIC states


(MENAFN) The OIC States Broadcasting Union's media training academy recently had its inauguration ceremony in Jeddah, and the OIC Organization of Islamic Cooperation attended.

Hissein Brahim Taha, the secretary-general of the OIC, Khalid Al-Ghamdi, the undersecretary of international media at the Saudi Ministry of Media, as well as a number of media ministers and representatives from OIC member nations, were present at the occasion.

The school is going to teach media professionals and content creators and hone their talents in light of the problems the new media provide to OIC member nations, according to Amr Al-Laithi, head of the organization.

Al-Laithi also mentioned that “the union will work to enhance the capabilities and skills of the media professionals of the OIC member states through the various training programs that will be made available through technological mechanisms and through the collaboration of media academic entities.”

A "important step" in the union's strategy to further its work, according to Wajdi Sindi, head of the communications division at the OIC, was taken with the opening of the OSBU academy.
