Intensive Media Coverage Of National Sport Day Events: QMC CEO

Doha: The Qatar Media Corporation prepared a special and distinguished programme plan to cover the National Sport Day (NSD) through its affiliated channels and radio stations.

The NSD, which falls on the second Tuesday of February every year, includes sports activities in various regions across the country.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), CEO of the Qatar Media Corporation H E Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Thani bin Khalid Al Thani said the media coverage would be comprehensive and diversified in line with the NSD objectives, with channels and radio stations having been provided with all requirements for a purposeful and exceptional plan.

The distinguished coverage of the NSD stems from the belief in the role of the media in spreading awareness of the importance of sport and the need to adopt it as a daily behaviour as well as clarifying the developmental and cultural dimensions of the decision of the State of Qatar's rational leadership to organize the NSD, and the unique and pioneering Qatari experience that benefits the world, His Excellency said.

Qatar TV will cover the NSD activities under the slogan 'The Choice is Yours'.

The open coverage from 8am until 3pm includes interviews with physicians to discuss the importance of sports and its role in preventing chronic diseases and changing the lifestyle of the elderly who practice sports, as well as the role of the family in instilling a culture of exercise, and the diversity of sports hobbies.

A team of presenters, correspondents and photographers will cover the various sporting events and activities taking place in the country, particularly in Katara, Lusail Boulevard, Al Bidda Park, Aspire, Old Doha Port, Lusail Marina Promenade, Oxygen Park and others.

Qatar Radio will air an open broadcast from 8am to 4pm which includes interviews with specialists in nutrition, sports and mental health.

The Spanish-language Hola Qatar Radio, French-language ORYX Radio, and English-language QBS Radio will air live all the NSD activities from Aspire Park and Banana Island Resort.
