São Paulo – Starting March 1, 2023, all export processes from Brazil to Jordan will take place on Easy Trade , the digital platform of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC). The announcement was made by ABCC technology director Marcos Bulgarelli at the event Digital Transformation – The New Era 5.0 in International Trade that took place on Thursday (9) in the auditorium of the ABCC and was streamed online.
The benefits of using Easy Trade in exports, Bulgarelli said, are higher security and agility and lower costs. There is no need to send physical documents and other paperwork.“This causes a USD 150 cost reduction per process, besides reducing shipping times,” the director said.
On Easy Trade, all players of the export process are connected on the platform, from the exporter to the halal certifier, regulatory agencies, Brazilian authorities, logistics operators, Arab authorities and customs and the importer.
Event was held in the Arab Brazilian Chamber
“Using blockchain technology, Easy Trade unites all the players involved in the export process, thus adding security, reducing timeframes, and optimizing communication between the parties,” Bulgarelli said.
The process ensures the reliability and authenticity of all documents involved and eliminates the use of paper by integrating Brazilian and Arab companies, certifiers and government agencies, thus making the process cheaper, more practical, agile, secure, transparent and sustainable.
In the near future, the ABCC's blockchain is planned to integrate the 22 Arab countries, Brazilian and Arab banks, Brazilian and Arab regulators, and industry associations.
Ellos Business analyst Laércio dos Santos gave a practical demonstration on how to use the platform, its usability, and the documents that must be uploaded according to the country of destination and product.
End-to-end traceability
Another tool that the ABCC presented on the occasion was Trust Trace Brazil , a traceability tool that will soon be launched by the entity. Traceability from the source to the end consumer will be made through blockchain technology. The Ellos platform will allow the consumer to have access to the entire history of the production chain before the purchase via a QR Code on the product package.
With Trust Trace Brazil, the producer will be able input on Easy Trade the data of the raw material like planting and harvesting dates (in case of agricultural production), location, products used in the farm, date and place of the animal's birth (in case of beef and poultry), feeding, date and form of slaughtering, and other information.
Then comes the information on the product processing like date and time of arrival and processing or manufacture, processing method, and techniques used in the manufacture. Afterwards the ready product receives a QR Code with all these information. In the logistics process of exports, sensors send data on time, location and product status to the blockchain.
After arriving at the local commerce, the end consumer can scan the QR Code and access the history of the entire production and supply chain.
Siscomex
Tiago Barbosa brought information on Siscomex
Another highlight of the event was the talk about Integration and Digitization of the Brazilian Customs given by Foreign Trade Single Window manager and Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) Facilitation general coordinator Tiago Barbosa, who brought information on the Siscomex Single Window , a program created by the Brazilian government in 2014 to be the leading tool to reduce the bureaucracy of foreign trade. According to Barbosa, reducing the bureaucracy can cut operational costs in foreign trade by approximately 14%.
Barbosa added that from 2014 to 2020, a cost and delivery time reduction was seen in both imports and exports. Import licenses, for example, went from 20 to four days to be obtained. The phytosanitary certificate, which used to take seven days to be ready, now takes only 24 hours. And the health certificate, which used to take three days, is now issued in 15 minutes. Artificial intelligence processes like container scanning have also facilitated import and export processes.
Other presentations
Professor Alejandro Frank talked about digital transformation in global value chains .“The point of global platforms is end-to-end connectivity,” he said. The practical outcomes of digital transformation are a more sustainable development, better engagement with stakeholders, a higher adaptive capacity, and new business generation.
ABCC Marketing & Content director Silvana Gomes presented the organization's 2023 calendar of activities . The event was attended by some 300 in-person and online viewers.
ABCC secretary-general Tamer Mansour moderated the Q&A following the presentations. ABCC president Osmar Chohfi opened and closed the event.“We're the only chamber of commerce in the world to develop its own blockchain system,” he said.
