Turkish share exchange opens week on lower note


(MENAFN) Türkiye's main share index started standing at 5,879.46 points on Monday, decreasing 2.36 percent, or 118.17 points, from the prior end.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index jumped 5.16 percent to finish the week reaching an amount 4,997.63, with a day to day exchange capacity of 97.7 billion Turkish liras (USD5.2 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira trading price stood at 18.8305 at 10 AM regional time (0700GMT), the euro/lira trading rate reached an amount of 20.3107, whereas a British pound exchanged for 22.7078 Turkish liras.

Borsa Istanbul declared it has momentarily stopped briefly trading deals in the wake of a string earthquake that struck the nation’s southern area previously on Monday.

International benchmark Brent crude exchanged at USD80.15 a barrel as of 09.41 AM regional time (0641 GMT), increasing 0.3 percent from the ending price of USD79.94 per barrel in the prior exchange session.

At the same time, American benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) sold at USD73.48 a barrel, a 0.1 percent increase following the prior session ended standing at USD73.39 per barrel.
