Greek families struggle to cope with surging residential costs


(MENAFN) Surging residential expenses are recording a heavy burden on Greek households, which are by now dealing with massive surges in food and energy costs, as shown by a report by Eurostat issued on Thursday.

The highest number of the residential cost overburden rates in towns were seen in Greece standing at 32 .4 percent, second came Denmark standing at 21.9 percent, and at the third spot came Netherlands standing at 15.3 percent.

As shown by data from Eurostat, the housing cost overburden rate is the measurement of the population existing in households where the overall housing costs counting in stuff like rent, utilities, heating, as well as water provision indicate over 40 percent of disposable revenue.

In the same way, Greece also came in the first spot in terms of the overburden rates in rural sector.

As such, it is standing at 22.0 percent in Greece, in comparison with Bulgaria's 13.3 percent as well as Romania's 10.8 percent.
