PARON (Pajhwok): Due to the lack of supply system 500 kilovolt electricity produced by the power station in eastern Nuristan province could not be consumed and go wasted, an official said on Friday.
Fazal Haq Haqqani, electricity affairs in-charge, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Nuristan power station constructed on Paron River comprised of two turbines produced total 750 kilovolt electricity.
He said 250 kilovolt electricity was distributed to Paron City, markets, shops and restaurants while the remaining 500 kilovolt was wasted because there was no supply system to distribute it to the consumers.
He said annually 15 million afs revenue was generated from the current electricity distribution and if all 750 kilovolt electricity was distributed the revenue would surged to 40 million afs.
Saifuddin Laton, the governor spokesperson, said that the provincial government was exploring ways to distribut electricity to other parts of the province.
He said Governor Hafiz Mohammad Agha during his recent trip to Kabul discussed the issue with the Energy and Water Minister.
Laton said that last week a technical team arrived in the province from Kabul and conducted a survey in the Mandi, Madin and Pashki villages.
He said the electricity supply process will kick start in March and this project will cost millions of Afghani.
