(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) VIENNA, Feb 1 (kuna) -- Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen said Wednesday his country is committed to supporting Ukraine against what he called 'the Russian colonial war.'
In statements to the Austrian television upon his arrival in Kyiv, Van der Bellen said the aim of his previously unannounced visit is to confirm his country's support for Ukraine.
He stressed his country's commitment to contributing to the European aid program to Ukraine, adding that he will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later today.
The Austrian President's surprise visit to Kyiv comes ahead of the European Summit on Ukraine, to be held on Friday. (end)
