Turkey in Sweden organizes the "Respect for the Holy Quran" event

(MENAFN- Hip Hop-24) Turkish civil society organizations in Sweden held a joint event under the title "Respect for the Holy Qur'an" in front of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm.

And the employee of the Swedish religious institution, Serdar Boukma, read translations in Turkish and Swedish of Quranic verses, and recited prayers.

"Like millions and billions of people, we condemn the provocative act in which the far-right Danish politician Rasmus Paludan burned a copy of the Holy Qur'an in front of our embassy in Stockholm on January 21," Ankara's ambassador to Stockholm Jan Tezal said in a speech during the event.

He added, "A few days ago, a mentally ill person here in this place targeted the Islamic religion and universal values by exploiting loopholes in the application of Swedish law."

"If this person had targeted and burned the holy book of another religion, our reactions and feelings would be the same as they are now," Tezal asserted.

At the end of the event, the Swedish translation of the Holy Quran and carnations were distributed to the participants.

On Saturday, the leader of the Danish far-right "hard line" party, Rasmus Paludan, burned a copy of the Holy Qur'an near the Turkish embassy in Stockholm, amid tight police protection, which prevented anyone from approaching him while he was committing a provocative act.
