Saudi Fund for Development underlines accomplishments at African South-South meeting


(MENAFN) A delegation from the Saudi Fund for Development attended in the 2nd Africa top-Level Forum of South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development, in the capital of Ugandan, Kampala, which started in the 17th of January and lasted till the 19th, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Friday.

The meeting was hosted in the attendance of Ugandan leader Yoweri Museveni, as well as under the auspices of the Ugandan administration, the Islamic Development Bank, the UN Development Program, the African Peer Review Mechanism, the African Union Development Agency, in addition to the UN Office for South-South Cooperation.

The SFD’s attendance in this meeting comes within the guideline of its interest in contributing globally, publicizing its attempts, ventures as well as plans, and to underline its higher aids, which involves all industries in developing nations, with the goal of reaching the targets of maintainable development.

The Director of East and Southern Africa Operations Azzam Al-Barrak revised SFD’s accomplishments in the African continent, and asserted that “Since its establishment in 1975, the Saudi Fund for Development has provided support to 46 African countries by financing more than 408 projects in Africa, at a value of $10.47 billion, representing about 60 percent of the total projects funded by the fund, and they include various sectors, such as education, health, transportation, communications, agriculture, energy, and others.”
