Local authorities in the southwestern Afghan province of Nimroz distributed aid donated by China to 400 destitute Afghan families, which included edible and non-edible items.

The state-run Chinese Xinhua News Agency, reported on Monday, December 19, that the local authorities in Nimroz province distributed a batch of China-donated assistance to the poverty-hit families.

Sediqullah Nasrat, the provincial director of refugees and repatriation for Nimroz, stated on Monday that 400 destitute families in Zaranj city, the provincial capital of Nimroz, received the aid on Sunday.

“In provincial capital Zaranj city we started distribution of China-donated aid to 400 destitute families on Sunday, and the aid package includes non-edible and edible items including rice and wheat,” the refugees and repatriation official said.

The assistance distribution in Nimroz came after the consignment of humanitarian aid from China was provided to the people of Farah last week by the Disaster Management and Humanitarian Authority (DMHA) of Afghanistan to the needy families in the province.

200 tents, 200 plastic buckets, 1,500 blankets, 3,400 sacks of rice, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and tarps were among the humanitarian aid given to needy families on December 11, according to an official of the organization named Samiullah Tawakoli, who spoke to media.

Over the previous year, China
has strongly supported the country by donating food, tents, winter clothing, COVID-19 vaccines, and other supplies that were provided to the country's underprivileged and flood-affected households.
