AMMAN — The health Ministry and Forearms of Change Centre to Enable Community (FOCCEC) on Wednesday launched a campaign titled“We Are All Positive”, in observance of World AIDS Day, which annually falls on December 1.

This event aims to bring awareness to the struggles of HIV patients and remove barriers to their access to services and protect their rights, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Deputising for Health Minister, Acting Secretary General of the Ministry Riyad Sheyab said that Jordan has spared no effort in confronting HIV since it recorded its first infection in 1986. The Kingdom established the National AIDS programme in the same year to implement strategies that helped ensure low infection rates.

The ministry continues to raise awareness to curb the spread of HIV, provides the best patient-centred care and offers services to people affected by the virus, in line with Jordan's policy to extend comprehensive health services, Sheyab noted.

FOCCEC Director General Abdullah Hanatleh said the campaign comes within the centre's vision to highlight HIV patients' struggles, removing structural barriers to their access to services and ensuring they enjoy their rights.

This media campaign is inspired by stories of people living with HIV, he noted.

Ahmad Ismail of the ministry's centre for consultation and voluntary inspection said that the Kingdom has registered 539 HIV cases since 1986.
