Albania: Thousands join anti-government protests

(MENAFN) Thousands of protestors in Albania’s capital, Tirana, met on Saturday to protest against high costs, poverty and relocation of youths from the nation.

The protests were organized after opposition Democratic Party of Albania (PD) and the Freedom Party (PL) called for Albanians to demonstrate.

The main slogan, ''Albania is at risk,'' was held in front of the Prime Ministry building.

Previous Leader and PL Chairman Ilir Meta stated the word of the citizens is one law, one mission.

"You are the one who keeps this country alive with your efforts and sacrifices. You have the right to demand responsibility for everything from the government and every office in this country.
You keep the government and the state afloat with the taxes you pay,'' according to Meta.

Previous Premier Sali Berisha called for everyone to participate in the protests to create the nation's future.

''This extraordinarily large rally is a powerful siren of hope for every Albanian," on the words of Berisha.
