Biden sends cautionary on future of US soldiers in Poland

(MENAFN) According to President Joe Biden, the temporary United States military presence in Poland would last for a "long period." Biden made the remark in casually during a White House function, and he offered no further explanation. Although Warsaw has requested that the United States station soldiers in Poland permanently, doing so would legally be against a NATO pact with Russia.

As Biden was exiting the East Room, Polish radio journalist Marek Walkuski yelled out a query regarding United States forces. The United States president retorted before leaving, “they’ll be there for a long time.”

The number of United States forces stationed in Poland, NATO's key logistical center for assisting the government in the adjacent Ukraine, is still unclear. The greatest ever contingent of American military personnel—12,600—was disclosed by the United States ambassador in Warsaw in May.

Due to Russia's partial reserve mobilization, Warsaw demanded that more NATO soldiers be stationed in Poland and the Baltic States in September.
