Leading Group A after three straight wins, Umm Salal will face Al Wakrah at the Ooredoo Cup hoping to continue fine show at Qatar University 4 Stadium, today.
Coached by Wesam Rizik, Umm Salal have shown outstanding performance in the tournament so far beating Al Ahli, Qatar SC and Al Sadd while maintaining a goal difference of +4 after scoring eight goals. A win today will strengthen Orange Fortress' chances of advancing in the tournament.
Al Wakrah, on the other hand, are fifth in the group with three points from a win against Al Sailiya. The Blue Wave suffered defeats against Qatar SC and Al Sadd. In other Group A match today, Al Sadd, who are second in the standings with six points, will meet Al Ahli at Al Egla 4 Stadium.
The Wolves will look to bounce back after losing to Umm Salal in the previous match while Al Ahli, who are behind Al Sadd on goal difference will be eyeing their third straight victory after beating Al Sailiya and Qatar SC. The Brigadiers were beaten by Umm Salal in their opening match.
The other match in Group A will pit defending champions Al Sailiya and Qatar SC at Al Ersal 2 Stadium. Qatar SC are fourth in the group while Al Sailiya, who have lost all their three matches, are on the bottom.
Meanwhile, the Group B matches will be played tomorrow, with Al Duhail on top with seven points after winning two matches besides playing a draw.
The Red Knights will take on Al Rayyan, who are fourth on the table with four points. The match will be played at Al Egla 4 Stadium.
Al Arabi, who are second with six points, will square off with Al Gharafa at Qatar University 4 Stadium. Al Gharafa are yet to be defeated in the tournament, having defeated Al Rayyan and drawing against Al Shamal and Al Duhail.
Al Shamal and Al Markhiya will also clash tomorrow in bottom-of-the-table clash at Al Ersal 2 Stadium.
