Starlink is a satellite internet service operated by SpaceX. After 2023, it also wants to provide international mobile phone service. Starlink satellite launches by SpaceX began in 2019. In low Earth orbit (LEO), Starlink comprises more than 3,000 mass-produced tiny satellites as of September 2022. These satellites connect with specialized ground transceivers. As of June 2022, Starlink served over 500,000 customers with an internet connection. The Starlink research, development, manufacturing, and orbit control teams are housed in the SpaceX satellite development facility in Redmond, Washington. SpaceX predicted in May 2018 that the ten-year project to plan, construct, and deploy the constellation would cost at least US$10 billion. Documents from February 2017 stated that SpaceX planned its satellite network to generate more than $30 billion in revenue by 2025, while sales from its launch business were anticipated to exceed $5 billion that same year.

On October 15, 2019, the Federal Communications Commission of the United States (FCC) filed documents with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on behalf of SpaceX to secure spectrum for 30,000 additional Starlink satellites, in addition to the 12,000 Starlink satellites that the FCC had previously approved.

Concerns about how the constellations will affect ground-based astronomy and how the satellites would add to an already crowded orbit have been voiced by astronomers.

SpaceX has improved Starlink satellites designed to lessen their brightness while operating to ease astronomy worries.

The satellites have Hall thrusters that run on krypton, enabling them to de-orbit at the end of their useful lives. The satellites are also built with automated collision avoidance based on the uplinked tracking information.

The company has declared it is on all seven continents, including Antarctica. The company tested one of its Starlink internet terminals at McMurdo Station in Antarctica as part of a massive initiative to put terminals at the most remote places on Earth.

The Starlink constellation was the most prominent satellite constellation ever launched when it was finished in September 2022, with more than 3,000 small satellites in orbit. Additionally, the company is working on Starship, a privately funded, totally reusable, super heavy-lift launch vehicle for interplanetary and orbital travel. Once operational, it will take over as SpaceX's primary orbital vehicle, replacing its present fleet of Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, and Dragon.

SpaceX also intends to launch Starlink Version 2 satellites, which are far more extensive and powerful than the present version, early next year.
