Amman, Sep. 4 (Petra) – The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and the Ministry of Environment launched a media campaign on Sunday to promote a waste recycling project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and a number of Jordanian professional and business associations.
The objective of the campaign is to educate waste generators in the commercial and industrial sectors about recycling practices and their direct and indirect benefits, according to a GAM statement.
This campaign will be carried out over the course of four weeks through the partners' social media pages, as well as field activities carried out by GAM.
The campaign involves handing out 25,000 brochures, mounting advertising banners on pedestrian and traffic bridges, as well as audiovisual messaging.
The recycling project will deploy a market-based approach to expand and improve private sector-led solid waste management services, increase service demand and profitability, and strengthen government support for private sector involvement in solid waste management.
