Israeli security forces detain suspected gunman in Jerusalem

(MENAFN) According to police, an alleged shooter who injured eight people close to Jerusalem's famed Western Wall has been taken into custody by Israeli security services. The individual turned himself up, according to the police, following a significant manhunt.

A gun believed to have been used in the incident, which occurred close to the Western Wall, a holy Jewish pilgrimage site, was seized, according to the police. The agency also stated that the suspect was brought in for questioning.

At least eight individuals were hurt in a shooting incident on a bus at King David's Tomb on Sunday morning just outside Jerusalem's Old City, two of whom were seriously hurt and five of whom were very mildly. A pregnant woman who was shot in the stomach was one of the casualties and is currently in a bad state, according to the local media. The infant was born through emergency C-section and is currently in a critical but stable condition, according to the Jerusalem Post.
