(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ten civilians have died at the Russian-controlled checkpoint in Vasylivka, waiting in line for evacuation to the Ukrainian-controlled territory.

The relevant statement was made by Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov during a nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The number of fatalities has increased and reached 10. Those who were waiting in vain for evacuation. Over 1,000 cars are waiting in line for evacuation at the checkpoint,” Fedorov told.

In his words, a baby was taken to hospital with a heat stroke, as Russian invaders had been preventing them from leaving a car for two days.

A reminder that civilians from such districts as Berdiansk, Vasylivka and Melitopol, as well as Kherson Region and Donetsk Region, are leaving for the Ukrainian-controlled territory via Vasylivka.
