Amir Abdollahian presses for freedom of Iranian national detained in Saudi Arabia


(MENAFN) Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian pressed for the freedom of an Iranian national held in Saudi Arabia throughout the Hajj trip through the phone with his Iraqi equivalent Fuad Hussein late Thursday.

The two heads diplomats talked about two-sided, local as well as global problems.

Iran’s foreign minister respected the Iraqi leader’s determinations to help ease the latest Hajj pilgrimage for Iranian hajjis.

Throughout the discussion, Amir Abdollahian followed up on the situation of an Iranian resident detained in Saudi Arabia throughout the Hajj and requested Hussein to deliver a message for his freedom.

In the meantime, talking about the flames in southern Iraq because of the dangerous heat and drought in the district, Iran’s top diplomat highlighted that “Unfortunately, the smoke caused by the fires in Iraq has seriously affected the residential areas of Dasht-e Azadegan in Khuzestan Province (in Iran).”

He also stated that “The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready for joint cooperation to immediately contain the fire.”
