Brazilian Footwear Exports Up 31% Image

São Paulo – Brazilian footwear exports rose 67.5% in revenue and 31.3% in volume in the first half of 2022 compared to the first six months of last year, according to data released by the Brazilian Footwear industry Association ( Abicalçados ) this Monday (11). The volume reached 7.5 million pairs shipped, generating a USD 651.6 million revenue.

The leading country in purchases of footwear from Brazil in the period was the United States, with 11.94 million pairs, amounting to USD 181.8 million, up 88% in volume and 106.7% in revenue. The second main destination was Argentina, with 8.2 million pairs at USD 90.67 million. France clinched third place, with 4.6 million pairs and USD 36.8 million. Fourth came Chile, which went from the ninth man destination in 2021 to fourth in the current period, with 1.4 million pairs, yielding USD 36.8 million.

In a release by Abicalçados, the entity's chief executive, Haroldo Ferreira , said the numbers point to a full recovery from the pre-pandemic period, 2019.“The semester was 35.6% and 30.9% above the same period in 2019, in terms of revenue and pairs,” said the executive.

In June, Brazilian footwear exports totaled 10.7 million pairs and rendered a revenue of USD 112.9 million, representing a 37.6% expansion in volume and 72.5% in revenue.
