EU does not want to attack with Russia

(MENAFN) In agreement with the bloc’s top diplomat, Josep Borrell, The European Union does not want a conflict with Russia, noting that economic stress stays the main instrument in contradicting Moscow’s “aggression” in Ukraine.

Updating the Japanese channel Yomiuri, the EU’s foreign policy chief announced that the six packages of bans forced on Moscow by the EU since late February have revealed that the bloc “can respond as Europe when provoked.”

“The EU does not want a war with Russia, and economic sanctions are central to its response to the aggression,” Borrell said.

Stating that the bans now aim about 1,200 people and 98 organizations in Russia, he declared that they “have already begun to take effect and will increase further in the coming months.”

“As far as advanced technology is concerned, Russia depends 45 percent on Europe and 21 percent on the United States. Only 11 percent for China,” he went on.
