
Bangladesh - Qatar Airways employee detained with 6.5kg gold at HSIA
Dhaka: A staff of Qatar Airways was detained by Dhaka Customs House with 6.5kg of gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on March 24.
The name of the detainee is Tajul Islam. He is a Qatar Airways' airport services agent.
Customs Deputy Commissioner (Preventive) Md Sanwarul Kabir said the detainee was captured with 6.5kg gold bars from the boarding bridge area of Dhaka Airport.
A total of 56 gold bars was handed over to him by a passenger, according to reports. Afterwards, those were recovered from Tajul's possession, the Customs Deputy Commissioner added.
However, details about the passenger who handed over the gold bars to Tajul is yet to be known.
The detainee was handed over to the airport police station after filing a case against him, mentioned the Customs official.
