Chinese FM condemns US’ aims of construction of new NATO
(MENAFN) Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has stated that the true goal of the United States' Indo-Pacific strategy is to construct a fresh form of NATO, cautioning the White House that any effort to do so would be met with rebuff.
On the fringes of the 13th National People's congress on Monday, Wang warned Washington against behaving in a way that would create instability in the region amid territorial conflicts between China and other countries.
Wang asserted that, “the Asia-Pacific is a promising land for cooperation and development, not a chessboard for geopolitical contest.”
Wang stated, condemning the US, that the American strategy is primarily focused at maintaining supremacy in the region through "bloc politics," which Beijing fears will destroy the existing Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) political and economic union.
