Qatar - GCC Chambers meeting vow to boost cooperation

Doha: Qatar Chamber (QC) Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani led the Chamber's delegation participating in the meeting of the Federation of GCC Chambers (FGCC Chambers) held in Riyadh.

The delegation included board members Mohamed bin Mahdi Al Ahbabi and Eng. Ali Abdullatif Al Misnad as well as QC General Manager Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi.

The meeting touched on various topics in connection with developing the Gulf private sector and boosting the economic and commercial cooperation among GCC states.

It also reviewed the Federation General Secretariat's draft work programme for 2022 which consists of several activities including the joint meetings with the Secretariat General of the Gulf Cooperation Council. 

These joint meetings will touch on the coordination between the Gulf governments and private sector and holding workshops in cooperation with member chambers to find adequate solutions to trade obstacles between the GCC countries, in addition to participating in regional exhibitions, forums and economic conferences. 

In a statement, Sheikh Khalifa stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between GCC states. 

He pointed to the role played by the Gulf private sector in driving the economic growth especially in light of the repercussions of the COVID-19 crisis which still affects the global economy.

The meeting's agenda included the ratification of the minutes of the 55th meeting of the Federation, a follow up of its recommendations. It also reviewed the updates of the construction of the Federation's new headquarters.

The meeting also asserted the importance of preparing for the 'Gulf Economic Forum', which is organised by the Federation biennially, noting that it must address topics related to the advancement of the Gulf economy, leading to the Gulf common market.
