Iranian President: Iran-Venezuela oil collaboration ought to change shape


(MENAFN) In a phone call with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Iran’s president Ebrahim Raisi described the ties among Iran and Venezuela to be strategic, and he stated: “The current relations between Iran and Venezuela should be bolstered under the new Iranian administration.”

The president said: “Development of relations between Tehran and Caracas is a necessity, especially in trade and economic issues,” in reference to great capability of both nations in different fields.

He further noted, “The reason for the sanctions imposed by the arrogant system and the United States on the Venezuelan people and government is their independence and freedom,” while stressing the tendency for freedom, justice, combating ego and the crisis facing people of Venezuela in opposing the authoritarian system.

"Oil cooperation between the two countries must take a new form and in the field of refining and petrochemical resources, we need to take greater steps,” said the president in reference to the place of both countries the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
