Bangladesh - Metrorail's trial run on Uttara-Agargaon Dec 12

(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Country's first ever Metrorail will run experimentally from Uttara to Agargaon on December 12. All preparations, including installation of electric lines, power transmission line and stations have so far been completed for the test runs.
Once complete, the rail will be able to transport 60,000 people an hour, considerably reducing travel time between Uttara and Motijheel.
The implementing agency Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) officials said, they have set a target for commercial operations in this area in December next year.
Each of the rail set will have four passenger wagons and two engines on both sides.
Earlier on August 29 this year, the DMRTA conducted the first formal trial run in Mirpur area of the capital.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader inaugurated the event.
The minister then said that the commercial operation will begin by late 2022 after a total of 14 months of performance test, including five months of trial runs.
