Suicide bomber kills dozen-worshipers at mosque in Kunduz

KABUL: A suicide bomber affiliated to the ISIS-K or so-called Daesh extremist group detonated himself among a huge gathering of worshippers at a mosque on Friday afternoon in capital city of northern Kunduz province, killing dozens of civilians and wounding over 100 others.

The Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISIS-K) asserted the responsibility for the attack.

In a statement released on Telegram, the group said an ISIS-K suicide bomber“detonated an explosive vest amid a crowd” of worshippers who had gathered inside the mosque.

Video footage rounding on social media shows tens of dead and wounded bodies at the scene of the incident.

Meanwhile, Pajhwok news agency, quoted from the provincial Information and Cultural Director, Matiullah Rohani that at least 46 worshipers were killed and 143 others injured.

Deputy minister of information and culture, Zabiullah Mujahid, immediately after the incident said that“today (Friday) afternoon in Khan Abad Bandar area” a blast occurred at in mosque of our“Shia citizens”.
