(MENAFN) On Wednesday, Oct. 6 Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi talked over telephone about the readiness to restore peace and reach to calm with Israel.
Abbas expressed to al-Sisi the Palestinian side's willingness to act under the backings of the Middle East Quartet, which includes the United States, Russia, the European Union, and the UN, stated the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Abbas said to al-Sisi that complete calm is fundamental in all Palestinian lands together with the need to "halt the attacks of the Israeli army forces and settlers against the Palestinians," WAFA noted.
In the meantime, al-Sisi explained to Abbas that Egypt strongly shores up the Palestinian state and the Palestinian people led by President Abbas, and deems the Palestine Liberation Organization the only and legitimate representative of the Palestinians.
