Two bomb blasts killed four US marines, 13 civilians, and wounded over 70 more at Abbey gate of Hamid Karzai International Airport on Thursday, August 26.

The first bomb is said to be among the crowd gathered to enter the airport to fly out while the second one was reportedly away from the gate.

Medical officials of the emergency hospital in Kabul said that the health condition of those wounded is critical.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports say that the twin explosions have killed 40 and wounded over 130 more.

Afghanistan Islamic Emirate has condemned the blasts in which civilians were targeted and said that the explosions have occurred in a location manned by US forces.

The acting minister and spokesperson of AIE Zabiullah Mujahid said that they are committed to protecting the lives of the Afghan people.

ISIS has purportedly claimed the responsibility for the explosions.

It is worth mentioning that the US had warned people of possible terror attacks in HKIA and has asked them not to come but few people had heeded the plea.

As the deadline of August 31 gets closer, thousands of people still wait at the gates of Kabul airport to get a flight out of Afghanistan.
