Retail trade value of Macao rises 200 pct annually in Apr.-Jun. period


(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Aug. 24 Macao's statistic department reported that the special administrative region’s value of retail trade for the April-June period of this year came to 20.70 billion patacas (around USD2.58 billion), a rise by 200 percent annually.

Amongst the key retail trade activities, sales values of watches, clocks and jewelry, leather commodities and communication tools saw remarkable annually expansion of 957.9 percent, 504.0 percent and 460.4 percent each, while sales value of supermarkets decreased by 11.3 percent.

Regarding sales volume index, the indices of watches, clocks and jewelry, leather commodities and communication tools recorded considerable increase, whereas the index of supermarkets declined.

For the first six months of this year, the value of retail sales hit about USD4,9 billion, an increas of 118.4 percent annually. In addition, the sales volume index surged by 130.4 percent.
