Philippines: Torrent showers leave 3 killed, 5 wounded

(MENAFN) On Sunday, Jul. 25 authorities stated that more than three people lost their lives and five were wounded in the northern Philippines following days of intensive monsoon showers.

Intense rainfall boosted by a typhoon hammered down Metro Manila and a lot of parts of the Philippines this week, resulting in floods and dislocating people in low-lying areas.

Three fatalities and five wounds were unlinked to flooding and mudslides, said National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director Ricardo Jalad to a radio interview.

Jalad noted one died after a tree collapsed on a vehicle the victim was driving on the thoroughfare, whereas the other two lost their lives after being struck by lightning.
