Intensive monsoon rains kill over 3, injure 5

(MENAFN)According to authorities, more than three lost their lives and five were wounded in the northern Philippines after days of intensive monsoon rains.

Heavy rainfall improved by a typhoon hammered down Metro Manila and many parts of the country this week, resulting in floods and displacing people in low-lying areas.

A radio interview quoted National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director Ricardo Jalad as saying that three deaths and five wounds were unrelated to flooding and landslides.

One died after a tree dropped on a car the victim was driving on the highway, as the other two died after being hit by lightning, Jalad further declared.
