European Central Bank aspires to preserve key interest rate at current level


(MENAFN) On Thursday, Jul. 22 the European Central Bank (ECB) preserved key interest rates stable.

According to the bank, the interest rate on the key refinancing procedures and the interest rates on the slight lending facility and the deposit facility will stay stable at 0.00 percent, 0.25 percent and -0.50 percent, each.

"In its recent strategy review, the Governing Council agreed a symmetric inflation target of two per cent over the medium term," it further said.

The ECB noted that for the goal of symmetric 2 percent inflation, the bank aspires to maintain interest rates at the actual level or lower.
