Kuwait doles out alms to Jordan' s Syrian refugees on Eid

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, July 21 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Islamic endowments body, known as Awqaf, distributed on Wednesday sacrificial meat to Syrian refugees in Jordan and Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza as part of an annual endeavor to usher in the Muslim Eid holiday.
The three-day initiative, held in conjunction with a local charity, also targets needy communities across Amman, Kuwait's ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom Aziz Al-Daihani told KUNA.
In the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, Palestinian families numbering in the thousands were also the beneficiaries of the gracious endeavor worth USD 100,000, the Kuwaiti diplomat added.
He hailed the "timely nature" of the initiative, which comes months after Palestinian families were "victimized" by the latest round of "Israeli aggression," he said.
The recipients of the Kuwaiti aid thanked the country for the kind gesture, which started a day earlier in a collaborative effort between the Kuwaiti and Jordanian Red Crescents. (end)
