Yemen: Pro-gov’t drive against Houthi militants leave 15 dead

(MENAFN) An administration official said to Xinhua that on Friday, Jul. 2 forces loyal to the Yemeni administration conducted a military drive against the Houthi militants in Yemen’s central province of al-Bayda, killing 15 from the two sides.

The official stated on condition of remaining anonymous that the Houthi militants lost control over several military locations after hours of severe armed clashes with the administration forces in al-Bayda.

Yemen’s Minister of Information Muammar Al-Iryani said that the military drive was intended for freeing al-Bayda from the Houthi militia.

The country has been locked into a civil war in 2014 since the Iran-supported Shiite Houthi militia invaded a great deal of Yemen and captured all northern provinces, comprising the capital Sanaa.
