by Mashhour Abu Eid AMMAN, June 26 (KUNA) -- The cultivating wheat project is one of the Jordanian community initiatives that enable families to grow wheat in open spaces in the middle of residential neighborhoods in the capital, Amman.
This secured a year's supply of wheat crops for the participating families, numbering 60 families comprising 150 individuals, in a country that imports about 97 percent of its needs from them, as the whole growing process took about seven months, according to Zikra for Popular Learning, the one who began this initiative.
The harvest season brought the participants about 300 kilograms of wheat per 2,000 square meters within a total area of 120 square kilometers. (end) ab.lr
