UK job vacancies hit record for a year as curfew alleviates

(MENAFN) UK job vacancies have reached their highest level since the beginning of the pandemic as the alleviating of curfew procedures has pushed employers to start hiring.

In the February-to-April period there were 657,000 job positions, a rise by around 48,400 on the prior quarter.

The Office for National Statistics stated that the jobless rate declined marginally to 4.8 percent in the three months to March, a decrease from 4.9 percent in February.

There were "early signs of recovery" in the jobs market, noted the ONS.
