Qatar, India review trade, investment ties


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Minister of Commerce and Industry H E Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari met via video conference with Minister of Commerce and Industry, Minister of Railways, and Minister of Consumer Affairs of India, H E Piyush Goyal.

The meeting dealt with reviewing bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, and industrial fields, and the means to enhance them, in addition to discussing trade policies between the two sides and their efforts in containing the pandemic.

H E Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari expressed his condolences to the government and people of India on the victims of the pandemic, stressing that Qatar supports India in its fight with the pandemic and expresses its solidarity in light of the health conditions currently facing the country.

The two sides stressed during the meeting the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination, in addition to adopting the appropriate strategies that will help the flow of goods and services between the two countries, something that will help support stability in the Qatari and Indian markets.

Trade volume between the State of Qatar and the Republic of India reached $8.7bn in 2020. India is Qatar's third largest trade partner.
