(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Another doctor died of coronavirus infection here on Tuesday after which the death toll of doctors from the infection reached 65 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Provincial Doctors Association (PDA), former Senior Medical Officer District Headquarters Hospital Mardan Dr Noor Islam contracted coronavirus few days ago and he was under treatment at the corona intensive care unit (ICU) of Hayatabad Medical Complex (ICU) for the last 18 days, and died on Tuesday.
The funeral prayer of Dr Noor Islam was offered at ancestral village, Pir Sado in Takhtbhai tehsil of Mardan. Dr Noor Islam had also served as Medico Legal Officer in Mardan.
Doctors and health staff are at increased risk of contracting coronavirus as they come in contact with various infected persons in hospitals.
KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan expressed profound grief over the death of Dr Noor Islam.
In his message, the chief minister expressed solidarity and offered condolence with the bereaved family. He also prayed for patience to the bereaved family to bear the loss with equanimity.
Mahmood Khan said the government keeps the services by the doctors during the coronavirus situation in high esteem.
606 FIRs lodged over violation of corona SOPs
Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Kamran Bangash says crackdown on violators of corona standard operating procedures (SOPs) was in full swing in KP as FIRs (first information reports) against 606 persons have been registered and 1,406 were fined for not following precautionary measures during last 24 hours.
Kamran Bangash shared that 29,046 operations were being carried out in different districts and 758 business outlets have been sealed. He said 8,492 individuals and businesses were issued warnings for violation of SOPs.
Mr Bangash said that strict implementation of SOPs was also being ensured in transport and bus terminals. He said third wave of the virus was very dangerous and spreading very fast. He appealed people to follow precautionary measures and support government.
The special assistant directed all the district administrations to take strict action against violators to stop spread of pandemic.
Meanwhile, KP Chief Secretary Dr Kazim Niaz appreciated the timely action of the district administrations across KP for implementation of SOPs related to COVID-19.
Chairing a meeting with commissioners, deputy commissioners, regional police officers and district police officers, he discussed in detail the Youm-e-Ali, lockdown, Jummat
Wida, Chand Raat and Aitkaf.
