Qatar- Lusail drive-through vaccine facility sees a huge turnout


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: The Drive-through Vaccination Centre in Lusail witnessing a big turnout especially by women. 

Also there is an ambulance team in case of any emergency cases, said Medical Director of Hamad General Hospital, Dr Yousef Al Maslamani.

Al Maslamani noted that providing privacy for women is one of the principles of medical care in Qatar, including for vaccination services inside their vehicles.

Speaking to Qatar Radio, he said that the goals achieved by the Vaccination Center in Lusail are to provide a fast and safe service for the public so that they can take the vaccination and return home easily.

'This service is only for the second dose because the first dose needs a number of detailed questions about the person's condition and chronic diseases therefore needs time, while in the second dose, the person health condition will be available to us, so we have all the information about the person and his health history, he said.

Dr Yousef Al Maslamani, also explained that people do not need prior appointment because the date of the second dose will be known and therefore they can go directly. The centre is open from 11am to 10pm, indicating that the waiting time does not exceed six minutes when it is not crowded.

Regarding question of why did authorities choose Lusail area, he said that the reason for choosing Lusail is because it is an open area and its easy access for people.

Regarding the vaccination mechanism, he said, after showing Ehteraz status and confirming all the papers (health card, date on vaccination card), people are sent to the second gate, where the health staff can vaccinate 10 people at a time.

After taking the vaccine, the person is asked to wait for only 5 minutes to monitor the condition and then they receive the vaccination card with second dose stamped, he said.

The new COVID-19 Drive-Through Vaccination Center was opened five days ago in Lusail as part of the efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. It was opened to strength ability to protect Qatar's population from the threat of the virus.
