Sporadic Clashes leaves 6 insurgents, 4 gov’t staff killed in Iraq


(MENAFN) Security sources said that a number of six insurgents of the radical Islamic State (IS) group and four members of the paramilitary Hashd Shaabi forces were confirmed dead on Saturday in separate attacks in Iraq.

According to al Hashd Shaabi statement, the government-supported Hashd Shaabi troops killed two provincial chief leaders of IS group in an operation in the Tarmiyah area, some 30 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.


The statement further included that random fighting flared up between the two forces in the same area, with three Hashd Shaabi members being confirmed killed and two others injured, whereas three IS militants were also killed in the clashes.

The Hashd Shaabi said in a separate statement that a roadside bomb placed by IS militants exploded near a Hashd Shaabi vehicle in Jurf al-Sakhar area, some 50 km south of Baghdad, and resulted in the killing of a paramilitary member and the wounding of two others.
