Panama- 62,859 Pfizer vaccine doses arrive Wednesday

(MENAFN- Newsroom Panama) Panama will receive the second batch of 62,859 Pfizer vaccines early Wednesday morning. The new doses will continue phase 1-A and start phase 1-B.
Once the drug arrives in the country, it will be transferred to the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) , from there the distribution will begin immediately with the objective that on Wednesday morning the vaccines will be available at vaccination sites .
Eduardo Ortega, director of the National Secretariat for Science, Technology, and Innovation (Senacyt) , explained that phase 1 includes first-line health personnel, people who are in nursing homes, complete the second dose to those who have already been vaccinated, and health personnel who are not first line.
" It is a significant number of people, there are approximately 60,000 people among health personnel, second doses and people over 60 years of age who are at home or nursing homes, " said Ortega
He reiterated that it is important to vaccinate as many people as quickly as possible to reduce cases of serious illness and deaths.
