Mexico's car production, export might witness 12 pct recovery in 2021

(MENAFN) On Monday, Jan. 11, Fausto Cuevas, general director of the Mexican Automotive Industry Association (AMIA), stated that Mexican light automobile output and exports could both expand 12 percent this year.

Cuevas stated in a videoconference with journalists: "that takes into account that the outlook for the markets in the United States and Canada are quite favorable for this year," while mentioning the country's two partners in automobile issues.

Cuevas further said: "that would allow us to gradually return to the figures we had before the pandemic."

A data issued on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography showed that nationwide output and exports of automobiles declined last year by 20 percent each, because of the global effect of the novel COVID-19 pandemic.
