Great cholera vaccination campaign initiated in northern Zambia


(MENAFN) On Saturday, Dec. 26, a great oral cholera vaccination campaign intended to control the common outbreak of diarrhea disease in some Zambian regions was initiated in northern Zambia.

The state-run news agency, the Zambia News and Information Service (ZANIS) said that, the first round of vaccination campaign will be launched in Nsama, one of the regions with great cholera cases in which more than 7,000 people will be taken.

The first round will go on for seven days and the vaccine will be given to people of all ages comprising children from the age of 12 months, stated the National Cholera Elimination Coordinator Freddy Kapaya.

He further said that, the second round which will go on for 14 days will come next. The effect of the vaccine will stay for three years, according to him.
