Jordan- 2,400 public transport vehicles violate COVID-19 preventive measures

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov 21 (Petra) –– The Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) has ticketed 2,400 vehicles for failure to adhere to COVID-19 preventive and safety measures.
LTRC Director General Salah Lozi told Petra in an interview on Saturday that the commission had formed teams to tighten control over the various types of vehicles to ensure commitment to regulations and relevant defence orders to curb the spread of coronavirus.
He said that the inspection teams, in cooperation with the Public Security Department, were monitoring the starting and arrival points of various means of transport to ensure compliance with regulations and control measures, including curtains separating the driver from the passengers, wearing masks, 75 per cent seating capacity and sterilizing buses regularly.
Lozi called on public transport operators to bar commuters who do not wear face coverings, explaining that failure to adhere to these instructions is a clear violation of the defence orders by both the driver and the passenger, which warrants a fine and referral to the public prosecution.
He pledged that the LTRC will spare no effort and take whatever action needed to protect the health and safety of the citizens.
