Turkey: Stock market dips, rises


(MENAFN) Turkey's benchmark stock index drops on Monday, October 26th, by 3.88 percent to 1,144.45 points.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index began the week at 1,182.45 points, dropped 46.18 points from 1,190.63 points by the end of Friday, 23rd of October.

On Monday, 26th of October, the BIST 100 drifted between 1,141.58 and 1,183.61 points, but by the time it closed nine stocks on the index went up and 90 dropped in comparison to the previous close.

Concluding the day with a market value of almost 843 billion Turkish liras (USD106 billion), the benchmark index registered a daily trading volume of 25.9 billion Turkish liras (USD3.2 billion).
Private lender Garanti, Turkish Industrial Development Bank (TSKB), and pharmaceutical firm Eczacibasi posted the highest trading volumes.

Kartonsan, the paper and carton producer saw a 10 percent increase in his shares, making him the best performer, while stocks of apparel producer Mavi decreased the most, losing 10 percent.
