Arab countries unite against France


(MENAFN) France is experiencing a widespread boycott movement in Muslim countries over President Emmanuel Macron's denial to censure the issuing of cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed that are prohibited in the religion.

"We will not give up cartoons, drawings, even if others back down," the president declared during a national homage to the French teacher who was murdered by a teenager after showing his students the mentioned cartoons.

His reaction to the issue has led for a boycott of French companies and goods in Muslim nations.
In KSA, the Arab world's biggest economy, a hashtag was the second most trending on Sunday, October 25th that calls for the boycott of Careefour, France's biggest supermarket in the region.

Even in Kuwait, the non-governmental Union of Consumer Co-operative Societies which is supported by over 70 industries has published a boycott on October 23. By Sunday, October 25th many co-ops visited by Reuters had emptied their shelves of products like hair and beauty items made by French companies.
