Uzbekistan to export agricultural goods worth USD5 billion

The presidential press service of Uzbekistan said on Tuesday that the country is planning to bring the export of agricultural products to USD5 billion in the upcoming years by increasing the export destinations and modernizing the industry.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev urged the government to raise the scientific potential of the agricultural sector and to make a global certification system in order to achieve the target of the exports.

The president said that "in 2019, the certificates to export 78 types of (agricultural) products to 19 countries of the world were obtained. But this is not enough for Uzbekistan with its huge potential".

Uzbekistan will is going to give attention to negotiations with Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Qatar, Mongolia, Afghanistan and other countries in order to export fruits and vegetables.
